His story...

Isaac has both of his parents but they are poor and could not afford to educate him or even meet his basic needs. He schooled through S4 and then sat at home for two years searching for some way to pay his school fees. Due to frustrations he lost hope in his future, he joined street gangs. He had a difficult time on the street and as a result he had thoughts of committing suicide. He had nearly given up until he met the El-Shadai Family and began seeking help. He was accepted into the family where he was counseled and rehabilitated. He has recovered but is still recovering from some issues. He is the eldest child in the family and is very talented in arts. Eventually he will need to help his parents in educating his younger siblings, about four of whom have already dropped out of school.

Interests and Hobbies...

He loves interacting with people and is a curious learner. He is a very talented artist and is involved in anything with arts, crafts, and music. He also likes to eat!

Future plans...

Isaac is the first member of the family to go to university. He has been accepted at the prestigious Makere university in Kampala where he now lives. He is supported by the family while continuing his studies.

Notes:

Isaac is now leading the family in our art and craft project of making batiks to earn money to support the family’s needs. He is the trainer of the family choir.

Child Financial Needs:

The Ugandan government does not offer free education at any level. Before coming to the home, many of the children had been forced to drop out of school because they were unable to pay the fees. El-Shadai Family Foster Home believes that all children should have an education and a safe, loving environment where all of their basic needs are met.
