His Story...

His nickname is Emma. He is an orphan, both parents died of HIV/Aids and alcohol addiction. The parents were Karamajongs and poor who came from Northeast of Uganda. His Aunt took him to Mukono for some time where she paid school fees for him, but then took him to Jinja to be cared for by a brother who was not even capable of supporting himself. Emma grew up on the streets. He was street boy for many years with only a faint hope that something would get better. He was taken in by a child outreach organization. His days consisted of schooling, bathing in the lake and then returning to sleep on the street. In P5 he decided to leave the project and sought out Uncle Stephen for counseling. He was then accepted into the family.

Interests and Hobbies

Emma loves football and is very talented in it. He also likes to write and is focused on his education. He says "I want to learn and now I am just focused on my education. I just love school so much."

Future plans...

Emma wants to help others in the future, possibly by becoming a lawyer. He wants to be able to help his family however he can and be able to provide needs such as school fees.

Notes:

Two years ago, Emma brought his sister, Esther to Uncle Stephen's home. He is a very bright and promising student. Currently he is at Bukoyo S.S.S, which is recognized as one of the best schools in the area. At school, he was elected as the sports prefect because of his talent in football.

Child Financial Needs:

The Ugandan government does not offer free education at any level. Before coming to the home, many of the children had been forced to drop out of school because they were unable to pay the fees. El-Shadai Family Foster Home believes that all children should have an education and a safe, loving environment where all of their basic needs are met.

Current Sponsorship Status:

Emma is currently sponsored for school fees.
